Festivals are year round in Louisiana. You'll find plenty of great food and music like Zydeco, jazz, country, bluegrass, gospel and blues. Colorful, fascinating, fun and plentiful doesn’t come close to identifying Louisiana's more than 400 annual events. From north to south, from east to west, Louisiana likes to celebrate and, thanks to it's exciting cultural as well as its bountiful scenic beauty, there is always a reason to start cooking, playing and dancing.

Mardi Gras is Louisiana's most famous celebration, a statewide party unrivaled anywhere in this country. The Mardi Gras season begins on January 6 the Twelfth Night Feast of the Epiphany and ends on "Fat Tuesday" (Mardi Gras day), which is always set to occur 46 days before Easter.

But Mardi Gras is only one of Louisiana's big events. Statewide, Louisiana's fertile delta soil produces abundant crops and they celebrate sugar cane, rice, strawberries, peaches, corn, soy beans, boudin, jambalaya, crawfish and many more. Fall brings a host of harvest including celebrations of the shrimp and alligator harvests.

And in December, you'll discover a magnificent month of unique traditions including bonfires on the levee. Treat yourself to the rich blend of cultural heritages that make Christmas in Louisiana unforgettable.

So any time of year you're here, bring your appetite, ears, feet and curiosity. Louisiana will show you a good time.
